LAND SURVEYING, P.C.

“Surveying rooted in tradition and knowledge”

Sydney A. Rapp Sr. founded our family business in 1940 on a foundation of professional expertise and neighborly courtesy. Those values continue to guide us 80 years later in our role as southern Connecticut’s most trusted and reliable land surveying company. From the days of compass and chain to modern GPS systems, the Rapp family has provided state-of-the-art surveying services informed by a deep understanding of our region.

Sydney A. Rapp Sr. CE & LS

Born on April 10, 1909, Sydney A. Rapp, Sr. graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1930 and began his career as a surveyor shortly thereafter. Appointed Danbury’s city engineer in 1940, Sydney contributed greatly to the city’s development before returning in the early 1950s to the private sector. The disastrous flood of 1955 sent up a cry for Sydney to return to his post with the city, and he responded by orchestrating the relocation of the Still River. After a career as a private surveyor and city engineer that included supervising both Danbury’s public works department and its water department, Sydney retired in 1973.
